Nigeria’s conglomerate, Transnational Corporation of Nigeria (Transcorp) Plc, has declared a Profit Before Tax totaling N27.9bn in its latest full year report. A statement made available to the NPO Reports said the company’s performance in major sectors shows significant recovery from effects of the pandemic. European Economic Commissioner Paolo Gentiloni, says the impact of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine on food security will potentially have “dramatic consequences” for African countries that rely on grains imports. The spate of insecurity in Imo worsened on Monday as some gunmen attacked the Otoko Divisional Police headquarters in Imo State. A Federal High Court, Abuja, on Monday, discharged and acquitted former Minister of Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Affairs, Kabiru Turaki, of money laundering charge. Justice Inyang Ekwo, in a ruling on the no-case submission filed by the defence, said the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission had failed to link Turaki and his co-defendants with the offences contained in the 16-count charge. He said that the prosecution could not establish a prima facie case against them.
