The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has withheld the results of 262,803 candidates who wrote the 2023 school candidate West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE). Mr Patrick Areghan, the council’s Head of National Office (HNO), said this at a news conference to announce the release of the results. He said that the results were withheld in connection with various reported cases of examination malpractice. The Naira on Monday depreciated against the dollar, exchanging at N774.78 at the Investors and Exporters window. The Naira lost by 4.27 per cent when compared with N743.07 for which it exchanged for the dollar after the close of business on Aug. 4. The open indicative rate closed at N771.64 to the dollar on Monday. A spot exchange rate of N799 to the dollar was the highest rate recorded within the day’s trading before it settled at N774.78. The General Manager, Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), Mr Bolaji Oreagba, says operatives of the agency rescued eight accident victims at Anthony inward Ojota area the state.
