The All Progressives Congress on Wednesday in Abuja cancelled its National Executive Council meeting scheduled for Thursday, March 17, 2022. The National Secretary of the party’s Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning, Dr John Akpanudoedehe, disclosed this in a statement he signed late Wednesday titled ‘Purported APC NEC meeting cancelled’. The statement read “As directed by the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning and Governor of Yobe State, Mai Mala Buni, a purported emergency meeting of the Party’s National Executive Committee slated for Thursday, March 17, 2022, is hereby cancelled.” Details later…
A moving truck on Wednesday got stuck under the popular Ijesa Bridge along the Oshodi-Apapa Highway. Eye witness account said the truck was on a high speed when it’s body got hooked on the lower region of the pedestrian bridge with the rest of the truck summersaulting . As at the time of filing this report, a towing truck was still being awaited to remove the truck . It was observed that the impact of the truck had shown on a part of the bridge as it was discovered that there was a crack on it. Details later…
Former Governor of Lagos State and presidential aspirant, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu has met with senators elected on the platform of the All Progressive Congress on Wednesday. His meeting came ahead of the March 26 national convention of the party. Senate President, Ahmed Lawan, had read a copy of Tinubu’s letter to the senators giving details of where the meeting would hold. The Tony Elumelu Foundation (TEF) and Google on Wednesday announced an inaugural Google.org fellowship to provide one million additional Africans with access to TEFConnect. Jen Carter, global head of technology at Google.org, said at the Foundation’s headquarters in Lagos that it was part of the Foundation’s mission to empower young African entrepreneurs from all 54 African countries. Carter said that the partnership was the first Google.org Fellowship in Africa and would offer enormous opportunities for Africa’s digital community. The Federal Ministry of Works and Housing says it constructed internal road networks in 46 federal tertiary institutions across the country in 2021. The Minister of Work, Mr. Babatunde Fashola, stated this on Wednesday in Abeokuta at the handover of the Federal Government intervention of internal roads at Aro Neuropsychiatric Hospital, Abeokuta. The 1.3km internal road was rehabilitated by the Federal Ministry of Works and Housing on behalf of the Federal Government. The Senate on Wednesday passed the Money Laundering Act, 2011, Amendment Bill which became the “Money Laundering (Prevention and Prohibition) Act 2022.” This followed the consideration of the report of the Senate Committee on Anti-Corruption and Financial Crimes at plenary. Two Warders Killed as Gunmen Attack Imo Prison Gunmen on Wednesday attacked and killed two officers of the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCS) who were on patrol in Okigwe town. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the attack happened at Umulolo in Okigwe area of the state. A social worker, Mrs Rasheedat Sanusi, on Wednesday told an Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court how a `bishop’, Felix Okon, allegedly defiled his 16-year-old daughter and another minor. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Sanusi testified at the commencement of Okon’s trial on a two-count charge of defilement.
