World Health Organisation (WHO) on Thursday renewed its call for vaccine equity and solidarity to defeat COVID-19 pandemic as the highest number of cases were reported last week across the globe. WHO Director-General, Tedros Ghebreyesus, told journalists in Geneva at his first press briefing in 2022 that the dawn of a new year offered an opportunity to renew collective response to a shared threat. Members of the Ijaw Youths Council on Thursday staged a protest at the gate of the Dowen College, Lekki, to reject the autopsy report that says that the 12-year old Sylvester Oromoni, was not murdered. The student died in November and his case has generated massive interest nationwide prompting the closure of the college and institution of an autopsy. A Kenyan MP was on Wednesday suspended from parliament for one day for distributing sweets to colleagues during a contentious debate. Fatuma Gedi said the “sugar levels of members had gone down” after the day-long session. She had been accused by colleague Ndindi Nyoro of distributing money as bribes in the floor of the house. Mr Nyoro was asked to substantiate his bribery allegations and was suspended for two days after he failed to do so.
