Five Deaths Recorded as Nigeria Announces 856 New COVID Cases There were five cases of deaths on Wednesday as the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control recorded 856 new cases of coronavirus. The NCDC said in its latest chart that Lagos returned to its status as the epicenter of the disease while it recorded 337 cases of the total. A huge fire has on Wednesday consumed about 250 shanties, 200 makeshift buildings and 40 sawmilling machines at Oko-Oba in Lagos. Mr. Ibrahim Farinloye, Zonal Coordinator (Southwest) of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) confirmed this to newsmen. He said the fire began at 11.40 a.m. but was put out by the combined efforts of the Federal Fire Service, Lagos State Fire Service and the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency.
