The candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in the Osun governorship election, Ademola Adeleke, has emerged winner of the exercise in 17 local government areas of the state. Results of the election declared at the state collation centre in the early hours of Sunday showed that Adeleke defeated closest rival and incumbent Governor Gboyega Oyetola who won in 13 local government areas of the state. The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), says its operatives on election monitoring duties arrested three persons suspected of vote buying in the Osun gubernatorial election. Spokesperson for ICPC, Mrs Azuka Ogugua, made this known in a statement on Saturday in Abuja. She said one Dapo Olayode was arrested by the commission’s teams at Ife North and Central Local Government Councils, Osun East Senatorial District, precisely at Polling Unit 7, Iremo Ward IV. The All Progressive Congress on Saturday warned the Peoples Democratic Party against announcing fake results that could compromise the integrity of the ongoing governorship election in Osun. Voting has been concluded in Osun as results of the governorship election trickle in. Musician, David Adeleke (Davido) has reported to the Independent National Electoral Commission, alleged harassment of supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party in Ile Ife, Osun State. Davido, who took to his twitter handle, said they are not allowing people to vote in Ife. Candidate of the Peoples Democratic party, Ademola Adeleke is an uncle to Davido. The National Secretary of the All Progressive Congress, Senator Iyiola Omisore, is an indigene of Ife and is believed to have wide influence on elections in the ancient city. An over 100 year-old man, Mr Mustafa Olatunji, was spotted on Saturday voting at Unit 2, Ward 1, LA Primary School Popo, Iragbiji in Boripe Local Government area of Osun, at the ongoing governorship election.
