The Nigeria Correctional Service (NCoS) has dismissed reports that Peter Nwachukwu, husband of the late gospel singer, Osinachi, and a suspected kidnap kingpin, Hamisu Bala (a.k.a. Wadume), escaped from custody during Friday’s jailbreak at Kuje Custodial Centre, Abuja. The Public Relations Officer, FCT Command, NCoS, Mr Chukwuedo Humphrey, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday in Abuja that the two inmates were still in custody. Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola has made a surprise visit to the Medium Security Custodial Centre, Kirikiri, Lagos and demanded extra-vigilance from officials. The minister had caught many unaware as his visit was unannounced. Mr Usman Alkali Baba, Inspector General of Police on Tuesday said 21,000 police officers would be deployed for the Osun July 16 governorship election. Alkali Baba stated this in Osogbo at the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Osun 2022 Governorship Election Stakeholders’ Meeting.
