The Court of Appeal in Abuja on Thursday declared as illegal and unlawful, the abduction of the Biafra nation agitator, Nnamdi Kanu from Kenya to Nigeria and quashed the entire terrorism charges brought against him by the Federal Government. The Court held that the Federal Government breached all local and international laws in the forceful rendition of Kanu to Nigeria, thereby making the terrorism charges against him incompetent and unlawful. A 51-year-old man, Oluranti Badejo, has reportedly beaten his wife, Folashade Badejo, to death in Mowe, Obafemi-Owode Local Government Area of Ogun State. The State’s PPRO,Abimbola Oyeyemi confirmed this in a statement released on Thursday saying that,the suspect was arrested on 12th October after the matter was reported at Mowe Divisional Police Headquarters by a younger sister of the deceased wife. A Federal High Court sitting in Dutse, Jigawa State, on Thursday, discharged and acquitted Senator Saminu Turaki of the N8.3bn corruption charges preferred against him by the Economic Financial Crimes Commission. Turaki and three other companies had been standing trial since May 4, 2007, in a suit filed by the EFCC on 33 counts. The former governor was arraigned by the EFCC before Justice Binta Nyako of the Federal Capital Territory High Court on July 13, 2007. Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly Timothy Owoeye narrowly escaped death on Thursday as his convoy was involved in a road crash. The crash happened along the Osogbo-Ilesa Road. Abdulmumini Yusuf, an assistant superintendent of police (ASP), has been kidnapped by gunmen in Kwara state. According to NAN, the ASP is serving at the police area command in Ilorin, Kwara state capital.
