Youths of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in South-East and South-South regions who claimed to have left Yenagoa enroute Lagos to drum support for the party’s presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, on Monday arrived Ogun. The youths, under the auspices of “South-East/South-South Jogging for Tinubu Campaign Initiative”, claimed to have constituted a team of fitness enthusiasts to embark on the exercise. The Ebonyi Police Command has confirmed the attack on a section of Ezza North Local Government Headquarters by unidentified gunmen. The hoodlums had set the property on fire on Monday morning and left valuables worth millions of naira destroyed. The command’s Spokesman, SP Chris Anyanwu, said in Abakaliki on Monday that the command was aware of the incident. Doctors recruited from some of the poorest countries in the world to work in hospitals in the UK say they are facing exploitation and are so overworked they worry about putting patients’ health at risk. A BBC investigation has found evidence that doctors from Nigeria are being targeted by a British healthcare company called NES Healthcare. It found they are expected to work in private hospitals under conditions that are not allowed in the National Health Service – the UK’s publicly funded healthcare system. Nigerian model Favour Rufus was diagnosed with glaucoma at the age of seven but she still had a clear vision of becoming a beauty queen. The Labour Party (LP) on Monday disowned a campaign rally timetable being circulated in the media. Mr. Arabambi Abayomi, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, said in a statement in Abuja that the timetable was neither authorised by the LP leadership nor its presidential candidate. “Labour Party’s attention has been drawn to a purported OBI -DATTI presidential campaign rallies timetable in circulation. “I hereby deny the authenticity of this campaign council programme, as Labour Party’s leadership is not aware of it,” he added. A Chinese national, whose name has not been revealed has been killed after some gunmen stormed a mining site in Otam Nwogba Village, Izzi Local Government Area of Ebonyi State. The gunmen had shot sporadically at workers in the process of which a Chinese and a policeman sustained gunshot injuries. The Chinese national later died in the hospital.
