He prayed for the repose of the souls of Kevin Ayodele and Sina Ghami, the two associates of Joshua, travelling with him at the time of the incident.
He also wished Joshua quick recovery from the injuries he sustained in the incident.
Yusuf further commended Gov. Dapo Abiodun of Ogun and his Lagos counterpart, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, for visiting the pugilist at the hospital where he is recuperating.
It will be recalled that Joshua and three other persons were involved in an accident on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway on Monday in which his two associates died.
President Bola Tinubu had already commiserated with the boxing champion.
“I extend my deep sympathies to you following the tragic accident on the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway, which claimed two precious lives and caused you injuries,” he said.
The president described the incident as especially painful, noting it occurred during the festive season.
“This immense tragedy casts a deep shadow on this season,” the president said.
Tinubu said he shared the grief of Joshua and his family over the loss and emotional trauma.
“I sympathise with you and your family as you bear the emotional weight of this unfortunate incident,” he said.
He praised Joshua’s discipline, courage and patriotism, describing the boxer as a continuing source of national pride.
“As a sportsman, you have shown courage, discipline and unwavering love for our country, making you a source of national pride,” he said. NAN
