Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, has said that the late Secretary General of the Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries, Mohammed Sanusi Barkindo, left a legacy of service.
Atiku, who was responding to the sudden death of Barkindo late Tuesday, said he was saddened by the demise of the former Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation.
Barkindo was the Wali of Adamawa.
He died on Tuesday shortly after a reception held in his honour by the Nigerian President, Muhammadu Buhari as part of Barkindo’s preparation for retirement from the OPEC.
He was 63.
“I am saddened by the passing away of the Wali of Adamawa, the Secretary General of the Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries and former Group MD of NNPC.
“Dr. Mohammed Sanusi Barkindo left indelible marks in his service our nation and OPEC,”
Atiku’s statement forms one of the many pouring in after the death of the former OPEC chief.
