The Benue Government has declared Wednesday a work-free day ahead of President Bola Tinubu’s visit.
NPO Reported that the President had yesterday announced postponed his planned official visit to Kaduna State in order to travel to Benue following last week’s massacre of over 200 residents by suspected armed Fulani herdsmen at Yelewata town in Guma local government area of the state.
As part of the preparation for the President’s visit, the Benue government, in a statement issued by Deborah Aber, Secretary to the State Government on Tuesday in Makurdi, announced the work-free day.
This, according to Aber, is done to honour Tinubu and ensure mass reception of the President.
“This is in honour of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, who is scheduled for a one-day visit to the state.
“The visit is to commiserate with the government and people of the state over incessant security challenges.” She said.
The SSG however noted the exemption of essential services workers such as health workers, security agencies and bank officials.
Aber urged Benue residents to come out en masse to receive the President and his entourage.
