There is tension in Sokoto metropolitan areas as some protesters have trooped out to demand the release of those arrested over the killing and burning of a female student of the Shehu Shagari College of Education on Thursday.
The police had deployed its operatives to the streets but protesters have defied the police as they ask more people to join to enforce the release of the arrested suspects.
The Sokoto State command of the Nigerian Police Force had announced arrest of two persons over the killing of Deborah Samuel who was accused of blasphemy against the prophet of Islam.
The Sultan of Sokoto, Saad Abubakar had earlier condemned the killing and called for arrest of perpetrators.
At least, no fewer than three persons had confessed to taking part in the killing of Deborah.
One of them particularly displayed the box of matches with which he set her ablaze.
