Lucky Aiyedatiwa has been officially sworn-in as the Ondo state governor following his victory at the governorship election held on the 16th of November 2024.
The event which took place on Monday at the Ondo State Sports Complex in Akure, the state capital, would see Aiyedatiwa begin his first full term tenure as the state governor after completing the tenure of his late predecessor, Rotimi Akeredolu.
Aiyedatiwa took his oath of office just after his running mate, Olayide Adelami, around 12:59 pm.
The new Ondo governor and his deputy were sworn in by the Chief Justice of the state, Justice Ayedun Olusegun.
NPO reported that Aiyedatiwa was declared winner of the November 16, 2024, governorship election by the Returning Officer, Olayemi Akinwumi.
The All Progressive Congress (APC) candidatewon the poll with 366,781 votes to defeat his closest rival and candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Agboola Ajayi, who scored 117,845 votes
Following the conclusion of the election, the APC won in a landslide, clearing all 18 local government areas.
Meanwhile, prior to the election, Aiyedatiwa served as deputy to late governor, Rotimi Akeredolu.
Aiyedatiwa would ascend to power on December 27th, 2023, to complete Akeredolu’s tenure following his death.
