Barely a week after the collapse of a seven storey building at the Banana Island Lagos , another one had come down in the state.
This time around, a three storey building under construction came down at the Ladipo Oluwole area of Apapa in Lagos.
Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Dr. Oluremi Oke-Osanyintolu, while confirming the development, said an official of his agency had reported back to the headquarters to confirm the incident.
He said the official whose name he gave as Adeniyi Adebiyi, said that the property was served several notices to prevent its collapse but the owner turned them down and continued with the construction.
According to him, the building has been sealed by the government to prevent further casualties at the site.
Luckily, no construction workers were said to be at the site when it came down.
Eye witnesses said they heard a loud bang after a thunderstorm strike during the Sunday morning rains.
Shortly afterward, it was learnt that a party of the building caved in.
LASEMA said no casualties were recorded because the workers at the site were yet to return from the Eid fitr celebrations.
Just on Saturday, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, ordered the demolition of some structures under construction at the Banana Island vicinity saying experts have considered them to be of faulty structural state.
