The Benue State House of Assembly has demanded the release of all 14 protesters arrested by the police on Sunday during the agitation over the massacre of Yelewata town residents.
NPO Reported that the protesters had taken to the streets hours after the murder of over 200 people by suspected armed herdsmen.
The tragic incident which sparked public outrage also triggered the state’s youths to embark on the protest over the killing.
However, some of the protesters were arrested and detained by the police.
Reacting to the development at its plenary session on Tuesday, the Benue state lawmakers demanded the release of the arrested protesters while also calling for the protection of vulnerable communities across the state.
