Amidst controversies over a leaked conversation between the Founder of the Living Faith Church Worldwide Bishop David Oyedepo and the presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the just concluded election Peter Obi, the cleric on Sunday opened up saying he has never interceded in any issue of political interest.
An audio of him and Obi has been at the centre of a controversy where Obi was accused of saying that the presidential election was a “religious war “
He was heard asking the cleric to speak to Christians in the South West of Nigeria and Kwara state.
Oyedepo is an indigen of Kwara.
“Nobody had ever told me what to say in this world. No. I have never campaigned for anybody or speak on anybody’s behalf and I will not do that till I go to heaven.
“There is no (political) party in this country that didn’t come to me for prayers and for advice. I advised them, some, they didn’t take. Those who chose to take it, they see results; those who said no, they are going about it (laughs). If you still come again, I will still tell you, it doesn’t change,” he said.
Just this morning, a chieftain of the Peter Obi campaign Diran Onifade said the audio was a fabricated one saying it showed the capacity of the All Progressive Congress to manipulate things.
Earlier, one of the chieftains of the Labour Party Kenneth Okonkwo, confirmed the audio .
Unconfirmed reports say that Okonkwo has been placed on suspension for his confirmation of the audio.
