Human Rights lawyer, Dele Farotimi, has been granted N30 million bail by the Ekiti state Magistrate court, Ado-Ekiti.
This was disclosed in a post on X by Sahara Reporters publisher and activist, Omoyele Sowore.
According to Sowore, Farotimi was granted the bail on Friday at the court’s hearing of the defamation suit filed against him by Chief Afe Babalola.
His bail conditions, however, include two sureties, one of whom must be a property owner.
In addition Farotimi is to submit his passport and prohibited from media interviews.
Sowore’s post reads,”The Kangaroo Magistrate Court has finally granted @DeleFarotimi bail, subject to the following conditions: a 30 million bond, two sureties (one of whom must be a property owner), submission of his passport, and a prohibition on granting media interviews. The Struggle Continues!
NPO earlier reported the arrival of the embattled lawyer at the magistrate court with heavy presence of security operatives.
