Former Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission AbdulRasheed Bawa has regained his freedom from the custody of the Directorate of State Security.
Bawa was arrested in June by operatives of the DSS over allegations of financial irregularities.
His replacement was concluded last week with the appointment of Mr. Ola Olukoyede as the new substantive chairman of the commission.

Bawa, it was learnt has also sued the DSS over what he called illegal detention and violation of his fundamental constitutional rights.
Details of his release were not made clear Wednesday night as at the time of filing this report.
Confirming that Bawa had left the DSS facility spokesman of the service Dr. Peter Ifunaya simply wrote in a terse message released at about 11:30pm on Wednesday “DSS confirms release of former EFCC chairman, Abdulrasheed Bawa, a few hours ago (today 25th October, 2023).”
Ifunaya did not give further details on the release .
