Operatives of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Crimes Commission (ICPC) have allegedly raided the residence of former Kaduna State governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai.
This was disclosed in a post shared on X on Thursday by Muyiwa Adekeye, the Media Adviser to the embattled ex-governor.
While the exact location of the residence was not ascertained, Adekeye disclosed that the raid was confirmed by El-Rufai’ lawyer, Ubong Akpan, who condemned the action.
“The residence of Malam Nasir @elrufai was today searched by the ICPC.
“Ubong Akpan, Malam El- Rufai’s lawyer, condemned the action “as unlawful, and a clear violation of legal procedures and fundamental rights” Adekeye wrote.
The development is coming barely a day after the ICPC arrested El-Rufai shortly after being released by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
NPO Reported that El-Rufai had earlier this week submitted himself to the EFCC following financial misappropriation allegation filed against him by the commission.
He was subsequently detained for interrogation despite protest from his supporters who attempted to storm the EFCC headquarters but were restricted by security personnel.
Prior to the detention, the Department of State Services (DSS) had filed a cybercrime suit against El-Rufai over his claim of tapping into the telephone conversation of the National Security Adviser (NSA), Mallam Nuhu Ribadu.
