The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared the All Progressive Congress (APC) candidate, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, as winner of the 2024 Ondo Governorship Election.
Aiyedatiwa was declared winner of the election by INEC’s Returning Officer, Prof. Olayemi Akinkunmi, at exactly 2:30pm on Sunday.
Following the collation of all 18 LGAs results of the election conducted yesterday, Aiyedatiwa won the poll with 366,781 votes, defeating his closest rival Agboola Ajayi of the Peoples Democratic Party who recorded 117,845 votes.
As contained in the results sheet, the APC won across all the local governments, including Agboola LGA where they recorded 14,511 votes.
At Akure South LGA which is considered the biggest local government in Ondo state with 314,709 registered voters, only 54,670 voters were, however, accredited for the election.
Aiyedatiwa gathered 32,969 votes at the state’s most populous LGA while Agboola recorded 17,926 votes.
Meanwhile the election recorded 2,051,137 registered voters.
Only 520,945 voters were, however, accredited.
INEC recorded 508,963 total votes cast.
However, 497,077 valid votes were recorded as 11,886 votes were rejected.
