The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Governor Hope Uzodimma of the All Progressives Congress (APC) winner of the November 11, 2023 governorship election in the state.
Uzodinma who was seeking re-election was declared winner by the Vice Chancellor of the Federal University, Oye Ekiti, Prof Abayomi Fashina, who was the state Returning Officer on Sunday.
According to Prof. Abayomi, the APC candidate polled 540,308 votes to beat Samuel Anyanwu of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who scored 71,503 votes; and Athan Achonu of Labour Party (LP) who secured 64,081 votes.
“That you Hope Uzodimma of APC having satisfied the law is hereby returned elected,” Fashina declared.
Uzodinma became governor in January 2020 following a supreme court verdict that nullified the election of Emeka Ihedioha.
Uzodimma sought re-election in Saturday’s poll and cleared all the 27 local government areas in the state.
