At least, three people have now been confirmed dead in the train and bus collission that happened Thursday morning in Lagos.
Apart from the dead, 84 persons who were injured in the accident that occurred at the Shogunle area of the state capital are being attended to as reported earlier by the NPO Reports.
Governorship candidate of the Labour Party, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour visited the scene of the emergency treatment at the Lagos state University teaching hospital, Ikeja.
He was met by the Commissioner for Health, Prof Akin Abayomi.
The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) confirmed three people died while 84 others injured.
Permanent Secretary, LASEMA, Dr. Femi Oke-Osanyitolu, said, “Investigation gathered revealed that the immediate cause of the incident was due to reckless driving from the part of the BRT bus driver while trying to beat the train road signal before the moving train rammed into the BRT bus.
“Unfortunately, three adults (two females and one male) were confirmed dead and 84 people were seriously injured.
“The injured victims have been administered first aid treatment by the agency’s medical team (paramedics) and LASAMBUS officials and were well stabilized before being transported to Ikeja General Hospital and trauma center for further treatment.
“The agency pre-hospital care unit, LASAMBUS officials, Nigeria Police Force, LASTMA, LNSC, and Nigerian Army are responders present at the scene of the incident.”
The affected bus has been removed from the track and the train recovered by the LASEMA

There are fears that some passengers may have died and several others injured after a train collided with a bus belonging to the state government in the Ikeja area of Lagos Thursday morning.
Already, many have been evacuated from the bus which was badly hit after it cross the track while a train was passing.
The bus is said to be that of staff of Lagos State Government. The train was said to be coming from Ijoko and heading to Iddo Terminus when the accident happened.
The scene had attracted a huge crowd Thursday as many stopped to witness the rescue operations. Emergency officials however failed to turn up immediate making many Good Samaritans to assume the rescue duty to pull the injured out of the wreckages.
It was learnt by the NPO Reports that the train dragged the bus for some distance before it could grind to a halt while victims yelled for help.

Sanwo-Olu Sympathises With Victims of Lagos Train Crash
The Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has sympathised with victims of the train accident that occurred on Thursday morning.
Earlier, NPO had reported that many may have died and several others injured after a train collided with a bus belonging to the state government in the Ikeja area of Lagos Thursday morning.
The bus is said to be that of staff of Lagos State Government.
The accident occurred around past 7am on Thursday.
In his reaction via his Twitter handle, Sanwo-Olu prayed for families of the victims and appreciated the efforts of the rescue team.
“I am deeply saddened by the news of the train/bus accident . The vehicle was conveying staff of the Lagos state Government, our staff who serve the state in different capacities. Let’s say a prayer for the families and a prayer of mercy and protection for our state.
“My thoughts are with the victims and their families during this difficult time. A big thank you to well- meaning Lagosians who immediately joined in rescue efforts.
“Our first responders and emergency services are on the ground and we will share more information shortly,” he tweeted.
Help for the Victims
NPO Reports learnt that blood donation is being urged by the Lagos state governor for victims of the accidents who are in critical conditions.
Interested blood donors have been asked to visit General Hospital, Gbagada, Lagos state Accident and Emergency Centre, Tollgate, General Hospital Lagos Island, Lagos State University Teaching Hospital and Folarin Coker Staff Clinic, Alausa Ikeja.
