Approves Dissolution of Executive Board
- Safiu Kehinde
In the wake of his inauguration as new Edo state governor, Monday Okpebholo has, on Wednesday, sacked all permanent secretaries appointed outside the state’s civil service as well every political appointees of his predecessor, Godwin Obaseki.
This is coming hours after he released his first-ever appointment list which he is set to submit to the Edo state House of Assembly for confirmation.
As contained in a statement issued by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Fred Itua, in Benin, all the permanent secretaries appointed from outside the public and civil service have been relieved of their appointments.
The governor directed affected appointees to handover all the government property in their possession to the most senior public officers in their respective MDAs.
He also approved the dissolution of Obaseki’s executive board as he prepares to assemble new cabinet.
Recall that Okpebholo had, in his first move of setting his cabinet, nominated Cyril Oshiomole, the first son of former Edo state governor, Adams Oshiomole, and Samson Osagie for Commissioners.
