The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has reached a consensus to zone its 2027 presidential ticket to the South while affirming Umar Damagum as its National Chairman.
This was made known on Monday during the party’s 102nd National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting held in Abuja, after the adoption of the report of the Zoning Committee chaired by Bayelsa State Governor, Douye Diri.
Address journalists after the meeting, PDP National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, said the NEC also approved the retention of the current zoning arrangement of the National Workings Committee (NWC) ahead of the party’s elective convention scheduled for November.
The party would further confirm the development in a communique issued after the conclusion of NEC meeting.
As contained in the communique, the PDP approved the National Convention Zoning Committee’s recommendation of zoning the Presidential candidacy to the south while retaining all the National offices held by the northern and southern regions respectively.
The party also affirmed Damagum as its substantial National Chairman pending it National Convention slated to hold at Ibadan, the Oyo State Capital on 15th to 16th November 2025.
