The Senate has approved the appointment of Enugu-born legal practitioner, Tochukwu Ude (SAN), as the new Minister of Innovation, Science, and Technology, replacing embattled former Minister, Uche Nnaji.
Ude, on Thursday, appeared before the red chamber for screening days after his nomination by President Bola Tinubu.
The President had on Tuesday written to the Senate for the screening of Ude.
Tinubu’s nomination of Ude came days after Nnaji resigned from his role amid alleged certificate forgery scandal.
NPO Reported that Nnaji had last month resigned following an exclusive report by Premium Times which revealed that his certificate purportedly obtained from the University of Nigeria Nsukka, Enugu State as well as the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) discharge certificate were forged.
This created another vacuum in the Tinubu-led administration which had now witnessed a third scandal involving appointed Ministers.
In Nnaji’s stead, the President nominated Ude who was previously the Enugu State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice.
