Breaking! Tinubu Visits Odumakin’s Family

National leader of the All Progressive Congress Bola Tinubu has visited the family of late spokesman of the Afenifere Yinka Odumakin.

Odumakin died on Saturday after complications arising from COVID19.

While consoling the widow, Tinubu exuded that the late Odumakin “has so much contributed to constitutional democracy of this country, no matter which side you are, we were together struggling for the actualisation of June 12. They mean so much to me, himself, Tokunbo Afikuyomi, many of them.

“Even if we had differences at a later stage, that is after we have gotten the military out of power, we were in AD together. He matters to me a lot and I respect him, that is what I have shown,” the APC National Leader said.

NPOreports had reported a statement by the All Progressive Party Chieftain, Tinubu on Saturday described the late Odumakin as 'Premature Departure of a Bright Star'.

Nigeria’s democracy will not be complete without mentioning Odumakin, Tinubu had said.

He recalled the contribution of Odumakin to the June 12 struggle after the annulment of the election won by MKO Abiola.

“He was at the vanguard of the battle even at the risk of his life and liberty. It is impossible to credibly tell the story of the emergence of the democracy we enjoy in this dispensation today without emblazoning Odumakin’s name in gold.

“He was a doughty fighter for freedom and the rule of law. He was rock solid in his commitment to Afenifere, the Yoruba people and the several other civil society groups in which he played active roles.”

On her part, Joe, said the passing of her husband was so shocking to her and was yet to get over it.

She wished her husband would still be alive to witness the arrays of tributes poured on him even by those they had differences.

Joe expressed the belief that Yinka would make it to heaven as he was so much close to God.
