*Apologises to Angry Customers
The British Airways on Saturday said it was sorry for the delay in its flights from Abuja to London on Friday which caused a 6 and a half hours flight to be extended to 11 hours.
A customer had angrily accused the airline of wasting their times by first flying to Lagos for an undisclosed reason before finally taking off to London.
NPO Reported earlier that Marlene Onyeocha had taken to her social media page to accuse the airline of spending eleven hours for what was supposed to be a six and a half flight from Abuja to London.
She also accused the airline of failure to apologise for the delays and inconveniences.
However, when the NPO Reports reached out to the airline on Saturday, an officials who simply identified himself as Gareth and of the Press Office of the aviation company confirmed that there was indeed a delay.
He however attributed the development to what he called a change in pattern of operation as a result of the travel advisory by the United Kingdom.
“We’re sorry for the delay in our customers’ journey. This was due to a change in the operating pattern, following a change to the travel advice from the UK Government,” Gareth replied NPO Reports.
She said the claim was that the pilot who was billed for the main flight had declined to sleep in Abuja due to fear of terror attacks.
According to the passenger, on getting to Lagos, one of the passengers in the plane fell sick and the rest passengers had to wait for the affected passenger to be escorted off the plane without any notification until a pandemonium erupted before they could be appealed to.
“I first have to thank the Almighty for journey mercy then tell my experience with my so called favorite airline British Airways.

“It was supposed to be a six and half hour flight from Abuja to London but it took almost 11hrs. Left Abuja on time 8.05 but because according to the airline, due to security alert in Abuja, the pilot refused to sleep in Abuja… Don’t ask me who flew the plane to Lagos,” the passenger wrote
She said with all passengers on board, “we had to fly to Lagos to pick up the pilot.”
“After touching down in Lagos, a passenger fell ill and we had to wait for he/she be escorted off the plain without no announcements made until a few of us exploded before apology came.

“I used to boast l only fly British Airways, been flying from when it was British Caledonian Airways but after the yesterday’s experience, will do a rethink,” she said
Some foreign missions in Nigeria had issued travel advisory to their citizens resident in the country over suspected plot by terrorists to strike especially at the Federal Capital Territory.
Attempts to get the reaction of the British Airways as at press time was not possible as the message sent to the company had not been responded to.
