Prime Minister of Britain Rishi Sunak, has expressed his desire to work with the Nigerian President-Elect, Bola Tinubu.
Sunak, in his first reaction to the victory of the All Progressive Congress candidate in the February 25 election said the new administration would open up new possibilities.
While Congratulating Tinubu on his victory in Nigeria, he said “the UK-Nigeria relationship remains strong.
He said he looked “forward to working together to grow our security and trade ties, opening up opportunities for businesses and creating prosperity in both our countries.”
Nigeria, a former colony of the British, has a robust trade relationship with British government.
Records have it that Total trade in goods and services (exports plus imports) between the UK and Nigeria was £6.7 billion in the four quarters to the end of Q3 2022, an increase of 84.1% or £3.0 billion from the four quarters to the end of Q3 2021.
