President Bola Tinubu has postponed the special Federal Executive Council (FEC) Meeting slated to hold on Tuesday in honour of the late former President Muhammadu Buhari.
This was announced in a statement issued on Monday by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
According to Onanuga, the FEC meeting will no longer be held as announced earlier, given the state funeral in his hometown, Daura, on the same day.
He said the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation will announce a new date after the funeral proceedings.
Tinubu had, according to Onanuga, called for the special FEC session to honour his predecessor for his invaluable contributions to our country.
Coupled with the President’s declaration of seven days national mourning, the Federal Government also declared Tuesday a public holiday in honour of Buhari.
The remains of the late former President is billed to arrive from London tomorrow by noon, after which he will be laid to rest at his hometown by 2pm, in accordance with Islamic rites.
NPO Reported that Buhari died on Sunday evening in a London Clinic after a prolonged illness.
His demise had since attracted tributes from notable Nigerians, world leaders, and organisations.
