Lauretta Onochie, former aide to late ex-President Muhammadu Buhari, has made mockery of President Bola Tinubu, over a flooded segment of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway.
Onochie, in a post on her X handle attached a video showing the Lagos sector of the highway engulfed in flood after a brief outpour yesterday morning.
Vehicles could be seen driving the heavily flooded road in a typical scenario often experienced in the state during the rainy season.
The former Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) Chairman, in a caption on the video, labelled the project a shoddy job.
“This is Tinubu’s Coastal Road after the rains of this morning! And in Dry season. Guess who will get the contract for the construction of an underground tunnel express to deal with this shoddy job?” Onochie wrote.
This had sparked mixed reactions from netizens with some calling out the President over the project while others defended the situation which they considered normal peculiar to every other Lagos road.
“Obiidiots, Lagos State is closed to Sea level.”@tajudine2013gm2
“The comment section is an example of why thieves are very audacious in Nigeria See how miserable people who are denied the basics of life are just cursing and insulting someone pointing out flaws in a $13.5 Billion controversial project instead of asking questions There is problem in Nigeria.”@ishakaa
“Only waiting for bad news. I have never seen people who are so fascinated with bad news and angry with any news that’s positive.”@MathewGonet
“Just one small rain. Awa Lagos not your Lagos in the sea”@Adathebeloved
“Island have always been like this even before costal road omo opposition is not easy o”@mardorti
“You mean our professor in practice didn’t factor drainage into the 15 trillion naira contract? The road won’t survive one rainy season like this, or are we expecting another 25 trillion naira for drainage? Master strategist”@Ev256
“Criticism is fair, but a single rain snapshot isn’t proof of a failed project. Coastal roads worldwide face drainage, soil, and tidal challenges. The real question should be: Was the design spec, supervision, and drainage engineering properly executed. not just who benefits politically.”@AdeMola
“Underground tunnel express already dey queue. First contract chop the money, now second contract go chop the flood. Na so we dey develop: one road, two contracts, zero drainage. Nigeria, e sweet die!”@thatMrT
“I was about to say it then when i saw some parts with drainage.. But keep quiet make dey no talk say we be busy body”@Shollzasaaju
“Madam, this is not part of d coastal road. Coastal road can’t av completed buildings at both sides. We can criticise d govt with facts & truth. As an elder, we shld desist from mischief & political resentment. There are many gullible Nigns but Nigns are getting wiser day by day.”@lekeolofin
