Human rights lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, has fired back at the 2023 Labour Party’s Presidential candidate, Peter Obi, over threat to sue him for defamation.
NPO earlier Reported that Obi, in a letter issued by his legal counsel, Alex Ejesieme (SAN), demanded that the human rights lawyer retracts some of his defamatory remarks against him or risk being dragged to court.
As contained in the letter dated 26th of August 2025, Ejesieme accused Adeyanju of publishing false and malicious defamatory statements on his social media handles.
He alleged that the defamatory remarks are aimed at injuring Obi’s reputation before the right-thinking members of the Nigerian public and international community.
While noting that Adeyanju had constantly posting derogatory remarks about Obi on his X handle since 2022, the legal counsel to the former Anambra state governor, highlighted some recent post of Adeyanju, including a post where he called Obi the ‘leader of mob’.
Obi’s legal team had demanded a public retraction of the alleged defamatory remarks alongside an unreserved apology from Adeyanju.
Reacting in a post shared on his official Facebook page Wednesday night, the lawyer said he is ready to meet Obi in court.
He labelled the former Anambra State Governor as a religious bigot and a fraud parading himself as a Messiah.
“Just got this letter from Peter Obi the religious bigot demanding a retraction from me.
“I laughed so hard. I can’t wait to meet him in court finally. A fraud parading himself as a messiah.
“This same guy called the great Sowore a blackmailer-in-chief.
“We served his little errand girl Serah a letter to retract all her defamatory publications on Monday against my wife & she ran to the leader of the mob for help. Can’t wait to meet him in court.” Adeyanju wrote.
