A man occupying a Honda Accord car has been trapped and killed after a truck fell off the popular Ojuelegba Bridge Saturday night.
The Ojuelegba Bridge remains a constant scene of similar tragedies over the last five years with the government paying lip service to averting such loss of lives.
The Lagos State Transport Management Agency (LASTMA) said it was making efforts to evacuate the fallen truck in order to end the traffic congestion along the corridors.
“Earnest effort is currently being made towards evacuation.”
The incident occurred at 8:36 [p.m.], the agency said.
As of the time of filing this report, the agency had yet to say if there were any casualties.
But eyewitness accounts said that the man who was driving the Honda car had died before any rescue could commence.
There were similar incidents in 2018, 2019, 2020 and in fact last year, 2021.
