In its bid to ensure that commercial banks comply with its directives, the Central Bank of Nigeria has deployed its men to various banks for the loading and monitoring of New Naira Notes into the Automated Teller Machines (ATMs).
The apex bank said this is to curb the challenges currently facing the general public due to the scarcity of the new currency.
In a video released on Thursday via its official social media handle, some officials were seen loading the new naira notes into the machine.
According to the apex bank,the operation tagged “Branch Spot-Checks on ATMs” has started in various banks across the country.
The apex bank said the operation was in collaboration with the Economic and Financial Crime Commission, EFCC and the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, ICPC.

However, the scarcity of the new notes has paralysed economic activities in the country while the Governor of the Central Bank, Mr. Godwin Emefiele, insisted that enough new notes had been deployed to various banks in the country.
