Chelsea football club are back to winning ways after edging past Newcastle in 2-1 win on Sunday.
Following last week’s defeat to Liverpool, the London club faced Newcastle at the Stamford Bridge.
The Blues wasted no time in getting back on track as Cole Palmer came close to putting them into an early.
His goal was ruled offside by by VAR.
However, Enzo Maresca’s side kept knocking at the visitor’s door.
Newcastle would succumb to Chelsea’s offensive charge after Nicolas Jackson found the back of the net in the 18th minutes.
Swedish striker, Alexander Isak, pulled a leveller for the Magpies after tapping in a through pass from former Chelsea man, Lewis Hall, to bring the game to 1-1 by halftime.
Meanwhile, Chelsea picked up from where they left in the first half as they continued their dominance in the second half.
Cole Palmer would put Chelsea back in the lead in the 47th minute with Romeo Lavia providing the assist.
Both team remained at loggerhead with frustrated Newcastle struggled to get back into the game.
They were, however, kept at bay as Chelsea maintained the lead till the final whistle.
The Blues enjoyed 51 percent ball possession while recording seven shots on target as against Newcastle’s 49 percent ball possession and three shots on target.
Meanwhile, Chelsea’s win sees them sit fifth on the Premier League table with 17 points across nine games.
