A former Nigerian Chief of Staff, Gen, Abdullahi Mohammed (Rtd) at the age of 86.
Abdullahi, who served as the Chief of Staff to both former Presidents, Olusegun Obasanjo and late Umaru Musa Yar’Adua, reportedly passed away in the early hours of Wednesday.
As confirmed by family sources, the retired Nigerian Army officer died around 1:00am.
According to reports, Abdullahi passed away after brief illness.
The news of the passing of the Kwara-born ex-Chief of Staff has attracted several tributes.
Late Gen Abdullahi attended the Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst, United Kingdom, and was commissioned into the Nigerian Army in 1958.
He rose steadily through the ranks, serving as Director of Military Intelligence and playing a pivotal role in the 1975 coup that ousted General Yakubu Gowon, paving the way for General Murtala Mohammed’s administration.
