The Code of Conduct Bureau has on Monday summoned the embattled Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo over the N438m contract funds allegedly paid to Planet Projects Limited, a company founded by the minister.
The CCB is said to be investigating claims by Tunji-Ojo where he said he had resigned his position in the company, where his wife is however still a director.
The minister, who is expected to be quizzed on Tuesday, was earlier summoned by President Bola Tinubu to the presidential villa last week in the heat of the revelations that his company benefitted from the contracts payments from the office of the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Betta Edu.
Edu had since last been suspended from office over her approval for the payment of over N585m belonging to the ministry into a private account.
Media reports quoted a letter signed by the CCB Director, Investigation and Monitoring, Gwimi S.P on behalf of the CCB Chairman, Murtala Aliyu.
The letter showed that the minister is to appear before the bureau on Tuesday, January 16, 2024, at the CCB Headquarters, Federal Secretariat Complex, Abuja.
“The bureau is investigating a case of alleged breach of the Code of Conduct for Public Officers in which your name featured prominently. Consequently, you are invited for an interview scheduled as follows:
“Date: Tuesday, 16th January, 2024. Time: 1100hrs prompt. Venue: CCB Headquarters on 5th Floor, Annex III, Phase I, Federal Secretariat Complex, Abuja.
“This invitation is pursuant to the mandate and powers of the Bureau as enshrined in the Third Schedule, Part I, Paragraph 3 (e) to the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as amended. Please be properly guided,” it read.
