Ibom Air passenger, Comfort Emmanson, has been freed from the Kirikiri prison as court strikes out charges filed against her over her unruly behaviour towards officials of the Nigeran local airline at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos.
Emmanson had on Monday drawn public attention following the circulation of the video of her physically assaulting an Ibom Air hostess on arrival at the Lagos airport.
With last week’s video of similar incident involving Nigerian Fuji musician, Wasiu Ayinde, and ValueJet still fresh in netizens memory, another video where the unruly Ibom Air passenger was stripped naked and dragged out of the plane by security operatives surfaced online.
This had sparked public outrage as Emmanson, unlike Wasiu Ayinde was slammed a lifetime ban and remanded in prison.
NPO Reported that the Minister of Aviation, Festus Keyamo, earlier today ordered the withdrawal of the case against the lady as well as her release from the Kirikiri.
Keyamo also directed the Airline Operators of Nigeria (AON) to lift the lifetime ban imposed on her.
In effect, the Ikeja Magistrate Court struck out the five-count charge reportedly filed against her while ordering her release from prison.
Barely few hours after the directives, Emmanson’s release was confirmed in a video shared on X by her friends on Wednesday afternoon.
As seen in the video, the Ibom Air passenger appeared excited with her release.
