Heavy traffic is gradually building up along Abuja-Kaduna expressway following a lone accident involving a fuel tanker.
The incident, which occured on Thursday morning, had left many commuters stranded as the gridlock stretches.
Confirming the development in a post on its official X handle, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) that the tanker obstructed traffic flow at about two kilometres after Jere by Katari village situated along the expressway.
FRSC urged motorists to drive with caution while disclosing ongoing effort to evacuate the tanker.
“There is an obstruction as a result of a road traffic crash that involved a tanker at about 2 kilometres after Jere, by Katari village on the Abuja-Kaduna expressway.
“Motorists plying that route are advised to drive with caution and be lane disciplined. The Corps operatives are already at the scene making frantic effort to remove all obstructions hindering free flow of traffic.” The post read.
As captured in a post shared on X, commuters could be seen waiting by the roadside after alighting from their vehicles stuck in the heavy gridlock.
