An Oyo State High Court sitting in Ibadan has declared the 2025 National Convention of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) valid.
Delivering the judgement on Friday, Justice Ladiran Akintola of Court 5 declared the convention held in Ibadan on November 15 and 15, 2025 valid shortly after Nwachukwu’s application for stay of proceedings.
Akintola affirmed the Kabiru Tanimu Turaki-led National Working Committee (NWC) as the leaders of the PDP.
Recall that the convention, which drew delegates from all 36 states and the FCT, was marked by sharp disagreements over zoning, accreditation delays, and allegations of last-minute manoeuvres by rival blocs.
The convention led to litigation cases between the Turaki-led faction and the faction of the expelled National Secretary of the party, Samuel Anyanwu.
Amid the litigation cases, both factions also engaged in series of face-off at the party’s national headquarters in Abuja.
In previous judgment, Turaki and other elected leaders were barred from parading themselves as national officers of the PDP.
This was however nullified by the new judgment, as the presiding judge granted the 13 relieves put before the Court by the Claimant, Folahan Malomo Adelabi, through his Counsel, Musbau Adetunmbi.
The judgement validates the emergence of the Taminu Turaki-led National Working Committee that emerged at the Convention.
