The Magistrate Court in Ado-Ekiti has denied Human Rights lawyer, Dele Farotimi, bail in the ongoing legal tussle with founder of Afe Babalola University (ABUAD), Chief Afe Babalola (SAN).
Farotimi was denied bail by the presiding magistrate, Abayomi Adeosun, at the hearing of the bail application on Tuesday.
According to reports, the decision followed arguments from the counsel to the police, Samson Osobu, who contended that the bail application submitted by the defendant was both incompetent and irregular.
In reaction, Adeosun adjourned the bail application till 20th of December 2024.
NPO reported that the lawyer was, on Monday, granted N50 million bail with his case adjourned as announced by activist, Omoyele Sowore.
However, the 2023 African Action Congress (AAC) Presidential candidate would disclose the court’s insistence on proceeding with Farotimi’s trial barely three hours after granting him bail.
