An Abuja Federal High Court sitting has, on Thursday, granted human rights activist, Omoyele Sowore, N10 million bail.
Sowore, who was arraigned by the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, had initially rejected the bail offer over its conditions.
NPO reported that the Egbetokun had sued the Sahara Reporter publisher for calling him an illegal IGP.
Sowore, in a post on his X handle, however disclosed to have been granted bail following the court’s withdrawal of its demand for a level 16 or 17 civil servant as part of his bail condition.
While the court retained its demand for Sowore, international passport in an effort to prevent him from jumping bail, the activist held that he will not release the passport.
“They granted the “bail,” but I am not going to be bailed out by a corrupt civil servant at level 17 or 16, they got the memo and took the condition off their table.
“Even, then they still targeted my international passport but that too they will never have!” Sowore wrote.
