The Ogun State High Court 1 has nullified the impeachment of Ijebu East Local Government Chairman, Wale Adedayo.
In a ruling delivered on Wednesday by the presiding judge, Justice Catherine Ogunsanya, the court declared the impeachment of the chairman carried out by seven local government councilors as unlawful and therefore void.
According to reports, the councilors had impeached Adedayo over a letter he wrote to the Ogun State Government.
The chairman had reportedly accused the state government of failing to remit federal allocations to the state’s local governments.
Following his impeachment, Adedayo challenged the councillors’ action in court.
He was represented by his legal team, CitiPoint Chambers, led by Barrister Tesleem Adewuyi.
Coupled with the nullification of his impeachment, Justice Ogunsanya ordered the Ijebu East Local Government to pay N30 million in damages to Adedayo and to restore all entitlements due to him as a former chairman.
