An Ibadan Family Court sitting, has, on Thursday, remanded a 76-year-old man, Akeem Muritala, in a correction centre for allegedly raping a 17-year-old girl.
According to the prosecutor, Insp. Gbemisola Adedeji, Muritala committed the offence in July in Isale-Afa area of Ibadan.
She said that the raped victime reported what happened to the police.
The prosecutor stressed that the offence contravened Section 34 of the Child Rights Law 2006.
In response to the hearing, the Chief Magistrate, Mrs Olabisi Ogunkanmi, ordered that the case file should be sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for legal advice.
Ogunkanmi adjourned the case until Oct. 23 for mention.
Muritala is a charge of rape.
