An Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday ordered that Oluwaseun Ayeni be remanded in a correction centre for allegedly abducting a 14-year-old girl.
Chief Magistrates’ E.Kubeinje remanded Ayeni,31, in Kirikiri Maximum Correctional Centre pending his trial.
Kubeinje adjourned the case until Feb. 28 for hearing.
DSP Kehinde Ajayi, the police prosecutor, said that the defendant on Jan. 3 committed the offence at Mosholashi Close, Abule-Alagbado, Lagos state.
She alleged that the defendant was the boyfriend of the missing girl.
”He took her to his house at Egbado Street, Dalemo Alakuko, Lagos , without the consent of her parents,” the prosecutor said.
Ajayi said that the offence contravened the provisions of Sections277(a and b) and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
Section 277 states that “any person with intent to deprive any parent or guardian, forcibly or fraudulently takes or entices away or detains the child or receives or handouts the child is guilty of a felony and is liable to 14- years imprisonment”.
However, the defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge.
