COVID-19: NCDC Announces 55 New Cases, Total Now 165,110

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has announced 55 new cases of the Coronavirus (COVID-19), bringing the total number of infections in the country to 165,110.

The NCDC disclosed this on its official Twitter handle on Friday.

The agency also said no death was recorded, as the initial deaths records remained 2,063.

NCDC stated that the new infections were registered across eight states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) in the past 24 hours.

The statement read: ”55 new cases of #COVID-19Nigeria;

“Lagos-21, Yobe-19, Ogun-six

Akwa Ibom-three, Kaduna-two, Plateau-two, FCT-one and Rivers-one, ” it said.

According to the centre, a multi-sectoral national emergency operations centre (EOC), activated at Level 2, continues to coordinate the national response activities in the country.

The NCDC said that the number of active COVID-19 cases in the country currently stood at 7,951 in the past 24 hours.

The health agency disclosed that 155,101 cases have been discharged after successful treatment since the beginning of COVID-19.

So far, the country has tested 1,912,628 people since the first confirmed case relating to the COVID-19 pandemic was announced a year ago.
