COVID-19: Nigeria Registers 8 New Infections

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), has recorded eight new infections across the country.

The health institute provided the total number of people positive for COVID-19 across the country as 167,059.

It also noted that six patients have been recovered from the disease as of June 12, 2020, while a number of 163,436 people have now been discharged across the country since February 2020.

It said that no COVID-19 death was registered across the country leaving the record at 2,177.

According to the health agency, the eight cases were registered in two states -  Akwa Ibom and Rivers with four cases respectively.

The NCDC, however, said 1,506 cases were still active in the country.

It stated that the country had tested 2,180,444 people since the beginning of the pandemic on Feb. 27, 2020.

“A multi-sectoral national emergency operations centre (EOC), activated at Level 2, continues to coordinate the national response activities,” it added.
