Cultists Clash in Lagos, Three Feared Killed




The Mushin area of Lagos was tensed Tuesday afternoon as rival cult groups went on rampage.

No fewer than three persons were said to have died when members of the Eiye confraternity clashed with another group after a member of the rival group was allegedly killed at the Ilupeju area of the metropolis.

Residents say a member of the Eiye popularly called Plantain had shot into a drinking bar Monday night and killed one member of the Aiye in the process.

Reprisal was said to have been planned for Monday night but was shelved.

The attackers came up on Tuesday and trailed Plantain to a place at the Olateju area of Mushin where pandemonium broke out after gunshots were fired.

Traders and other residents in the area were said to have scampered to safety as the warring factions engaged in the bloodbath.

Before the arrival of the men of Area D police command who took over the area, some of the attackers had razed down some properties said to belong to some those related to the rival group members.

Tension was still in the air as at the time of filing this report as there are fears of another midnight attacks.

The police however assured residents that they were now in charge
