The Nigerian Customs Service (NCS) has handed over recovered stolen vehicles to Canadian Authority.
This was disclosed in a post on the Service official X handle on Friday.
According to the post, the NCS had, in its intensified operation against vehicle trafficking syndicates operating within Nigerian borders, intercepted the stolen vehicles allegedly originated from Canada.
Showcasing the fleet of stolen cars in Lagos, the Comptroller General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi, disclosed that the recovered vehicles which include Mercedes Benz G550, Rolls Royce, and 2019 Lamborghini amongst others were intercepted across various locations in Lagos.
He, however, decried the impact of the smugglers activities which frustrate the effort of the government in establishing Nigeria as a reliable partner in global trade.
“This criminal activities not only stain our capacity but also threatens government’s efforts to attract foreign investments and establish Nigeria as a reliable partner in global trade.” Adeniyi said.
The CGC, however, expressed satisfaction with the successful interception.
“Through enhanced intelligence gathering and strategic deployment of resources, our officers at various commands have successfully intensified surveillance operations while ensuring minimal disruption to legitimate trade flows.” He added.
The recovered vehicles were formally handed over to the Canadian authorities which according to the post symbolizes strong international cooperation between the two countries.
