Davido Donates N250m to Orphanages Across Nigeria; Appoints Five-Man Panel

After raising almost N200m in a matter of two days, singer David Adeleke (Davido), on Saturday said he would add a sum of N50m to give a total of N250m to orphanages across the country.

Davido said he would be using the same method to raise money for charity on a yearly basis because he is committed to lifting others.

The singer had given out his Wema bank account two days ago where he asked his friends to donate to him claiming he needed to clear his Rolls Royce from the seaport.

However, after fans exceeded the N100m challenge, and reaching about N200m, the Osun-born musician said he was adding a sum of N50m of his personal funds to extend goodwill to orphans across Nigeria.

It is the first time an artiste if causing such huge donations to be made to charity in the country.

In a statement released on Saturday, David confirmed that he has set up a five-man committee to oversee the disbursement of the funds.

Those who make up the list are Mrs. Titi Adebayo, Prof Jonathan Nwosu, Prof Yohana Joel Asabe, Pastor Oyalabu and Prof Uloma Onuoha.
